Alberta's Number 1 Moose for 2005!

October, 2005, and I am back hunting with Wild Kakwa Outfitters. This is my second hunt with Rick Houweling, and this time I brought 5 friends along, with the promise, that they will all shoot a moose. Needless to say, at least half of the group was thinking that I had lost a couple of brain cells, and if 4 out of 6 of us get a moose, that would be considered a good trip. It was a tough week, way too warm for early October, and the moose rut was just not there. But Rick and the crew at Wild Kakwa came through again. All 6 of us shot moose, the largest 48", the smallest 38". We had brought back over 2600 lbs. of processed moose meat. What a trip! Rick and Rita run one of the best moose camps in Alberta, if not the BEST! There is a reason that Wild Kakwa Outfitters have been the top moose-hunting outfitter in Alberta the last 5 years! They deliver on what you expect on a guided hunt. New this year were cabins, replacing the wall tents. Double bunks for four hunters per cabin, with plenty of room for gear. Add to that, the homemade meals and desserts that Rita and Kelly prepare for everyone, it makes you feel like you're at home, and not out in the bush! My next moose hunt will be back with Wild Kakwa Outfitters!
