Wild Kakwa Outfitters provides archery trophy bull moose hunts and rifle moose hunts in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta Canada.The last 15 years Wild Kakwa Outfitters have guided 186 moose rut hunters and harvested 180 bulls. Last fall we guided 16 moose rut hunters and harvested 16 bulls, 11 of which were trophy bulls with big palms and lots of long points.Hunters have been harvesting moose in the 40-60 inch wide range with live weights of 1000 -1400 lbs.The aerial survey done by Alberta Natural Resources revealed that our hunting area is among the best in Alberta Canada for both archery and rifle rut hunts. They estimated the population to be over 5000 moose with 1500 bulls.  Archery Moose Hunts 8 days, September 16-23 This archery moose hunt takes place during the early rut. Hunters will be hunting on foot and from stands over mineral springs. The bulls are very territorial and will come in close when they are challenged. Your guide will call using bull grunts and cow moose mating calls to bring the bull into 20 - 50 yards. Hunters should be able to shoot accurately out to 50 yards and a range finder is recommended. Our goal is to call Pope and Young bulls into 40 yards or less for an exciting hunt. Success on Archery hunts ranges from 50 - 100% kill and over 200% opportunity. 8 Day Archery Moose Hunt $6,900.00 545.00 licenses 345.00 tax $7,790.00 Total Hunt Cost Archery Moose Hunting References Success on Archery hunts ranges from 50-100% kill. Jerry Gilson [262-844-4523]and James Meek [262-993-4135] from Wi both arrowed bull moose that were called in close, they saw 16 bulls and 9 cows on their hunt. Cindy Braun from Wi arrowed a 46 inch Bull with big palms and long points that scored 159 P&Y, she made a perfect shot when the bull was called into 22 yards.Call Jeff Braun Wi [715-316-3340] Tyler Borth from Ohio [419-345-7160] arrowed the highest scoring bull moose in Alberta, he was 45 inches wide and scored 168 P+Y. Ken Mummah from Pa [717-436-5899] saw 6 bull moose on his 5 day hunt and arrowed a nice bull that was called in close. Rifle Moose rut hunts 8 days, September 25 - October 20. Our rifle rut hunts are very exciting because the bulls are very aggressive and respond well to cow calls. We will be duplicating the cow moose mating call in areas with high densities of moose and high bull to cow ratios. The area we hunt has large clearcuts with lots of moose.
